I am Neela, a dance teacher at St. Francis School in Koramangala, Bangalore, and my journey with dance has been truly transformative. It began in 2019 when I joined the Skill Development Program by Dream a Dream. With the guidance and encouragement of my mentor Hemalatha, I discovered my passion for dance — a turning point in my life.

Despite facing discouragement from parts of my community and some friends and family, my mother remained my strongest supporter. Encouraged by the support I received, I pursued formal dance training and have since been exposed to over 15 diverse dance styles — helping me grow not just as a performer, but as an educator and artist.

My association with ISPTD has deepened my understanding of the power of community in the world of dance. Being part of a platform that promotes accessibility, inclusivity, and safe learning spaces has empowered me to think beyond just technique — and focus on impact.

This journey has also helped me improve my communication skills, especially in English, and shaped my professionalism. My dream is to start my own dance academy, train young people, and organize dance-based events that create joy and connection. With the foundation I’ve built, I’m moving one step closer to that dream every day.

I’m Monika, my dance journey took shape in 2019 when I joined Dream a Dream's Skill Development Program. Under the mentorship of Hemalatha ma'am, my passion for dance was not only recognised but nurtured in a way that helped me grow both personally and professionally.

I’ve always loved dancing, and through the program, I had the opportunity to learn and train in over 15 dance styles. This exposure helped me build flexibility, confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of discipline. The training also played a key role in shaping my communication, especially in English, and refining my overall personality.

Despite financial constraints at home, the unwavering support from my mother and the encouragement from Dream a Dream empowered me to keep pursuing my dreams. Being part of a community like ISPTD inspires me even more — knowing there’s a network of performers and teachers working to make dance accessible, respected, and inclusive across India.

Though I am currently working in the retail sector to support my family, my heart remains with dance. My dream is to return to it full-time, teach, and perhaps host dance events that bring people together through the joy of movement. With the foundation and values I’ve gained through this journey, I know that dream is within reach.

I’m Padma, and I completed the 1-Year Professional Dance Development Certificate Program in 2019 — a journey that has completely transformed my life and career.

Growing up, dance was always something I loved, but it was never seen as a “real” career option by my family. My parents didn’t encourage me because they didn’t believe there was a future in it. Still, I held on to that passion quietly, waiting for the right opportunity to grow.

That opportunity came through the collaboration between Dream a Dream and ISPTD, which made this professional training program accessible to someone like me. It gave me not only world-class instruction but also mentorship, exposure to industry standards, and the confidence to believe in myself.

The program was intense, immersive, and incredibly empowering. I was trained across multiple dance styles, learned classroom management and choreography planning, and built professional skills that I use every day now in my career. Today, I’m proud to work as a dance faculty member at a prestigious international school in Bangalore — something I once thought was out of reach.

Being part of the ISPTD network has made me feel seen, valued, and connected to a larger purpose. I’m excited to now pass on what I’ve learned and continue growing as an educator and artist. This program didn’t just make me a better dancer — it gave me a future in dance.
